being found
2024: to be found or not to be found, that is the question…
Talent in the current employee eco-system is rich, diverse, and highly capable, yet many employable people are not found or considered in the hiring process today.
Every age group, from emergent to experienced, offer perspectives, insights and skills that enhance engagement, belonging, and productivity in the world of work.
The ability to find talent depends on the creativity and determination of hiring and recruiting teams. Hiring authorities, including in-house talent acquisition, must reach out beyond the usual suspects, like Indeed, LinkedIn, et al. LinkedIn and Indeed are valuable, along with other social media and digital platforms, as a megaphone to broadcast to a large number of people. It must be recognized, however, that diverse and skilled talent, newly educated talent, in every field, segment, industry and arena of the employee ecosystem is simply not fully represented solely on social media platforms.
We all know at least one smart, super-talented person who doesn’t actively utilize social media. Or that driven, motivated, high performer who exceeds in their work consistently and rarely updates their profile on LinkedIn. We don’t all use social media, and it’s not necessary and available for everyone.
Finding talent requires reaching out beyond the realm of social media platforms. Talent can be found and is in plain sight, simply through the natural world of human connection.
Connection. It’s all about connection, and the continual process of learning how-to in the employment eco-system. Technology, like AI, ML, digital platforms and social media, are brilliant tools. Additionally, we have to reach out and integrate with humans in real settings too.
Shiny diamonds in every sector of the workforce need to be mined and finding them takes tenacity and willingness to set forward beyond our screens. 2024 is a year to grow brighter - in our work, and in our lives.
